# SEMBLE.CC ## Convene With Confidence. ### Baseline Spec v0.5 · The Signal To Convene · August 18, 2026 *Builders: the executable order lives in [SEMBLE-BUILD.md](/SEMBLE-BUILD.md).* > *"It is always the right time for the right moves. > And Semble is the move we make together."* — August --- ## 0 · THE WORDS Five words carry the whole system, and one verb sets it in motion. Nothing else needs learning. **Semble** — a word August invented. To come together. Something worth coming together around. It carries "assemble" inside it, but it is softer and closer: not a summons, an invitation. A Semble is both the gathering and the reason for the gathering — the thing you bring, and the people who come to meet it. **Semble Session — a Sesh.** One gathering, in one real place, at one real time. The atomic unit of the system. A Sesh is opened by a person with **Init** (below), runs on a Model (§7 F8), and is not scheduled until enough people commit — after which it is certain, and everyone is told once. Each Sesh mints one fixed pool of !MOTUS, allocated by the people who were actually there. *Sesh* is how people say it; *Semble Session* is what the record calls it. **Semble Steps.** The unit of movement. A Step is one small, named thing you actually do: commit your stake, post what you are bringing, read the Sembles you will meet, pack the thing that is stuck, tap the anchor at the door, allocate your share afterward. Steps are how a Sesh is prepared for, and how it is kept. Every Step lands in your Trax, dated. **Steps are the only thing Semble counts** — never a streak, never a nudge, always a commitment small enough to keep. **Trax.** The line your Steps make. Your record and your profile are one object: every Sesh attended, every Step taken, every !MOTUS in and out — dated, signed by the people who were there, checkable by a stranger, and alterable by nobody, including us. There is no score in a Trax, and no rank. A Trax is read, not compared. **!MOTUS.** What a room gives you for what you brought. A fixed pool per Sesh, allocated by attendees — redistributable, never inflatable. It buys **supervised agent-minutes**: agent work run while you are present. **SCU — Semble Compute Units.** The core building block of Semble compute: one unit of agent capacity, run while you are present. SCUs link — a room's units join into one fabric, and fabrics network across rooms. **SCC — Semble Compute Cores.** Cores made of linked SCUs — the working tier of Semble compute. A room runs on its cores; !MOTUS meters what they burn. **MCC — Motus Compute Cores.** The highest tier. Motus-level compute, reserved for the magic moments and thresholds — an MCC ignites when a threshold is crossed, not when it is paid for. **Init.** The verb. To open a Semble Session — before anyone has agreed, before anything is real. It reads three ways at once and all three are true: **initium**, Latin for *a beginning* (and the root of Initium.Builders, so the word that starts everything here carries the root of the name of the company that starts everything, without wearing it); **init**, the first process on every Unix system since 1970 and the one that spawns every other process, exactly as a Sesh spawns Steps, signatures, credit and a line in someone's Trax; and plainly, *the thing you do*. It is deliberately the only ordinary word among the coined ones — a product whose every label is invented becomes a private language, and a private language makes a club instead of a tool. Semble already carries the poetry; the button that opens a room should be humble and understood everywhere. To Init costs a returnable stake and commits you to nothing else. It is a hint, not an all-in: the threshold decides, not the person who opened it. And when the threshold fills, the system says the plainest true thing there is — **you're on it.** One line, whole: **Build your Semble. Share it in person with the world.** --- ## 1 · THE SHORT PITCH Semble is the app to **physically build in public**. Not posting about your work — bringing it into a room with people. You keep **one active Semble**: the thing you are making right now, shared in the open, carried like a working status for the real world. Anyone can **Init** a Sesh — a build session, a pitch circle, a workshop, three people on a walk — and it only becomes real when enough people commit. No empty rooms. When it ends, the room signs for itself that it happened, and the people who were there credit what you actually brought. Here is the turn that makes it a system instead of an app: **that credit is anchored to compute.** You spend it to run your agent — intelligence that moves while you are there, guiding it, and answerable to you afterward. The economy runs opposite to the industry: computation flows from presence. And here is why that matters more in 2026 than it would have in 2020. Digital proof-of-work is collapsing. cURL shut down a six-year bug bounty under generated report spam. Independent scans of production vibe-coded apps found the majority carrying critical security issues. Nobody can reliably tell real work from generated work any more. **Witnessed, physical, in-person building is the one signal that cannot be synthesized** — and no one is recording it. The path is one line: **Semble is the open door. A Semble that gathers real energy becomes a Motus Event. A Motus Event with real heat launches on Motus.Market.** Nothing launches cold. **Convene With Confidence. Semble.** --- ## 2 · THE PROBLEMS WE CONVENE ON These are the conditions this system is aimed at. Semble does not claim to end them. It claims to be a working counter-force. **The presence recession.** Builders especially are increasingly alone in rooms with screens. Third places are vanishing; the U.S. Surgeon General formally named loneliness a public-health epidemic. *Our answer: make presence the thing that pays.* **Intelligence that rewards absence.** The industry's dream product is an agent that works while you sleep. Every incentive in that design pulls a person further from their own life, and further from accountability for what their tools did in their name. *Our answer: presence-gated agency, cryptographically attested.* **The unwitnessed builder.** "Build in public" has come to mean posting. GitHub is the greatest build-in-public machine ever made, and it excludes everyone who does not write code. *Our answer: the physical layer to GitHub.* **The forgery of effort.** In 2026 the cheapest thing in the world is the appearance of work. Commit graphs, posts, portfolios and PRs can all be generated at zero cost, and the people who read them know it. *Our answer: a record of showing up that cannot be produced by a model.* **The empty room.** Event organizing runs on guesses: post a date, hope, watch half the RSVPs evaporate. Free events run 40–60% no-show. *Our answer: the threshold, and a stake that comes back to you when you walk in.* **Beginnings priced in money.** Compute and capital are sold for cash, so talent without cash stalls at the starting line. *Our answer: an earned path.* **Extraction as the default business model.** *Our answer: a record you chose to publish, under your own name, field by field, revocable at any time.* **Underneath all of them: coordination.** Getting the right people in the right room at the right time around the right thing is one of the oldest unsolved problems there is. Semble is a coordination instrument. That is the deepest ambition and the honest scope. --- ## 3 · THE ETHOS - **Convene With Confidence. Semble.** — when you go, it is real, it is confirmed, and the people there chose it. - **Motus: The Signal To Convene. The Signal To Move.** - **Humanity In The Loop.** — the central thesis, carried whole from the Motus.Market manifesto. - **Physically build in public.** — the category line. Not content. Presence. - **No algorithm decides who you meet.** — introductions come from humans who were in the room, or from your own agent reading your own record. - **Motus means move. A Motus move is a human move.** - **Motus Moments** — a moment of full presence, marked by hand, never recorded by default. - **Bridging worlds.** — presence in the physical and the digital, one system holding both. - **Pitch In Public. Your **Semble** is the near-term, local, physical expression of it. The Move is the river; the Semble is where you are standing in it today. **Motus.Events** is not a prize. It is what a Semble becomes when it outgrows the room. This keeps Events rare, and it solves the cold start: Events no longer wait on partnerships, because Sembles can begin anywhere, this week, with four people at a library. **Motus.Market** is where the money is made — already shipped and live. Semble feeds it. **The currencies:** - **$DASH** — money. Wallet-to-wallet InstantSend (settles in ~1–2 seconds, double-spend-safe), never custodial. - **$TRUST** — conviction, staked as attestations on Intuition's atoms and triples. Claims can be contested with stake on both sides. - **!MOTUS** — contribution and compute. Credit for work that was witnessed, and the unit that anchors the capacity to build. Its full economic design — including whether it becomes transferable and how it relates to any future token — is an open decision (§17). *(Votus is held, whole, for a later season.)* --- ## 5 · THE FLYWHEEL **The presence loop — the heart.** Show up → share your Semble in the room → the room signs that it happened → the room credits what you brought → that credit anchors compute → you build with your agent, present and guiding → what you build becomes your next Semble → you bring it back. The reward for presence is the capacity to build; the reason to build is something worth bringing back. **The threshold loop — the quality governor.** Sessions are opened, commitments gather → only rooms above threshold happen → every room that happens is chosen → attending is reliably worth it → more people commit faster → the community raises the threshold as it grows. **The introduction loop — humans guiding humans.** You can only refer someone to a gathering you actually attended → every referral is a vouch with your name on it → referrals that lead to presence earn $DASH → the growth engine is hospitality. **The stage loop — the funnel.** Sembles accumulate credit → the ones with sustained energy earn a Motus Event → the strongest launch on Motus.Market → market fees fund the network → the network funds more Sembles. **The record loop — the honest business.** Every kept commitment, every room held, every credit given is something a person chose to publish under their own name → it becomes verifiable evidence of how they actually work → and people whose profession is finding builders early will pay for structured, consented access to it. **The demand side is the whole point** (§15.2): peer credit with nowhere to spend it is the documented cause of death in this category. --- ## 6 · THE PRESENCE PROOF — THE BRIDGE This is the load-bearing invention. Everything downstream — earned compute, the record, the introductions, the stage — rests on one question: **How does a gathering produce a record of who was there that anyone can verify?** The record has to be strong enough that a stranger can trust it, and light enough that it only ever describes the gathering itself. ### 6.1 · The principle **People sign for people.** A phone can be left in a bag or carried by a friend, and a link can be forwarded — so neither is the proof. The proof is that everyone in the room put their own key to it. ### 6.2 · How it works - **The Anchor.** Every gathering has one physical anchor — an NFC card or token held by the convener. Attendees tap it. The Anchor signs a challenge over `(gathering, rotating nonce, your public key, time)` with a key that cannot be extracted from the hardware. - **The rotating nonce** changes every 60–120 seconds from a shared beacon, so a signature can neither be minted before the room nor replayed after it. **This is the specific hole that killed the previous generation of attendance tokens: a claim link proves access to a URL, not a body in a room.** - **The peer layer.** After tapping, your phone collects co-signatures from at least three other attendees over the same gathering and nonce window — and those co-signers must themselves hold valid Anchor signatures. A ring that never touched the Anchor forms a disconnected component and is discarded whole. - **Signed by a person.** SafeStep (§11) holds your key in the device's secure hardware and requires you to unlock it. This is the difference between "a phone was here" and "a person was here." - **The record.** One attestation per attendee, held by the attendee, in an open standard. The public graph stores only that the gathering existed, how many verified attendees it had, and the credit pool. Attendee-level detail stays private until the attendee chooses to present it. **Never stored:** GPS coordinates. Raw radio logs. MAC addresses. Biometrics. Photos. Continuous location. Arrival and departure times beyond a coarse bucket. A durable global person-ID. ### 6.3 · Keeping the record accurate Cryptography cannot stop five people in a real room from crediting each other generously, so the design bounds it economically instead: - **Credit is issued to the gathering, not by each attendee.** A fixed pool per gathering-hour, allocated among those present. Collusion can only redistribute a fixed pool; it can never inflate one. - **Cross-cluster dilution.** A gathering's pool scales with the *diversity* of its attendees' prior co-attendance. A closed ring meeting weekly earns a decaying pool; newly-mixing groups earn full value. - **Anchor custody rotates,** and an Anchor that only ever validates the same handful of keys is flagged for a human to look at. - **Stake, don't police.** The convener stakes $TRUST on the gathering's claim; anyone may stake against it. Fraud costs money and leaves a named record of who vouched for it. - **Anomalies go to humans, never to an automatic penalty.** This is a community with a code (§9), not a moderation queue. ### 6.4 · Why the anchor, and not the alternatives Each of these was considered as the presence primitive and set aside for a specific, testable reason. - **GPS or IP geolocation.** Trivially spoofed and maximally invasive — the worst ratio of evidence to privacy cost in the field. - **Claim links or QR codes.** A URL travels; a body does not. A link proves that someone had the link. - **Radio range on its own.** Distance-reduction attacks have been demonstrated over the air against shipping "secure" ultra-wideband silicon. Radio is excellent for discovery, and unsound as the source of truth. - **Mandatory biometrics, or dependence on a single global personhood provider.** Semble works with zero biometrics, and is designed to be one issuer among many rather than anyone's passport. - **Public, permanent, per-person attendance badges.** A public record of everywhere someone has physically been is a stalking tool. Attestations stay attendee-held and selectively disclosed. - **Continuous or background presence sensing.** The app senses only inside a Sesh window, and nothing at all when no Sesh is happening. What remains is the anchor plus the mutual signature: it produces evidence a stranger can check, and it captures nothing about where you were. ### 6.5 · Build on standards, invent nothing The attestation substrate is an existing open standard, and the wire format is the W3C's. We are adding the one thing that does not exist — the physical anchor and the mutual signature — and nothing else. --- ## 7 · THE MVP — FEATURE SPEC v0 Fourteen features. Each one exists to make a loop turn. ### F1 · One Active Semble One active Semble at a time: a title, what you are building, where it lives in the open, and your city. A drive holds your history. Every profile carries two faces: the **builder** (your active Semble) and the **backer** (what you have credited, and were present for). - *Acceptance:* create/edit one active Semble; archive on replacement; open-link required; MotusMove link optional; renders at 380px first. - *Symbolic interaction:* the card carries a quiet live fill. On focus, the crossing surfaces behind it — two curves turning into each other. A Semble is always half of a meeting. ### F2 · Init — Open a Semble Session Anyone Inits: what we convene on, where, when, the threshold. The one requirement: **what you bring must be shared in the open.** Not necessarily code — a model, a practice, a vision, a craft. - *Acceptance:* form ≤90 seconds on a phone; open-share link validated; nobody can Init without an active Semble; the opener posts a bond (F3); the button reads **Init a Sesh** and nowhere in the product says "propose". - *Symbolic interaction:* on submit, an anticipation dip, then one spark travels to the public list. ### F3 · The Threshold, The Stake, and The Refund Bonus An opened Sesh becomes real only when enough people commit — and commitment means something. **The stake.** You commit a small amount and **get all of it back when you physically arrive.** It is not a ticket; it is a promise you hold yourself to. Free events run 40–60% no-show; paid ones run 8–15%. This captures that difference without charging anyone anything. Money is never pooled or held by us — escrow is per-gathering, non-custodial, and returns on attestation. **The refund bonus.** If a gathering fails to reach its threshold, everyone who committed gets back **more than they put in**, funded by the convener's bond. This is a *dominant assurance contract*, and it exists because the plain threshold has a fatal flaw: it is individually rational to wait and see whether others commit first, which is exactly the deadlock that killed the previous generation of threshold-event products. Paying people for early commitment removes the deadlock. It is proven in real-money experiments and, as far as our research found, **no live platform has shipped it.** - *Acceptance:* live count of committed people with their Sembles; configurable threshold with a community floor; confirmation fires exactly once; ICS handoff; stake returns automatically on attestation; a Sesh that never fills pays the bonus and expires gracefully — the convener is invited to Init it again, never marked as failed; per-person bonus caps prevent farming failed gatherings. - *Symbolic interaction:* the signature moment. Each commitment is one more light joining the ring; at threshold the arc completes, the crossing surfaces at its centre, and the ring breathes one deep pulse. ### F4 · The Room In person is the primary mode. Rooms are **ephemeral by default**: nothing records. Anyone present can mark a **Motus Moment** — only marked moments survive. - *Acceptance:* v0 rooms are physical-first (the app's job is before and after; during, phones down); voice Sembles at v0.5; every marked moment shows who marked it, in the moment. - *Symbolic interaction:* while a room is live, its card holds a slow eight-second breath. Nothing else moves. The software goes quiet when the humans are together. ### F5 · The Signature, The Trace & The Credit The room signs its own attendance (§6). Then attendees — only attendees — allocate the gathering's credit pool to what people brought. The trace is **forkable**, with origin credited automatically. And the follow-through gate: you can only Init new Sessions if you showed up to the ones you committed to. - *Acceptance:* attestation at room end; allocation window closes in 48h; ledger append-only; fork copies the artifact reference with the origin line intact; follow-through state machine: commit → attended / excused / absent, with absence throttling future *Inits*, never attendance. - *Symbolic interaction:* a forked trace draws a visible thread from origin to heir — a spark travels it once. Lineage is drawn, not implied. ### F6 · Human Introductions You can refer someone **only if you attended that kind of room yourself**. A referral is a vouch with your name on it, and referrals that lead to real presence earn $DASH. - *Acceptance:* gated on attendance record; the referred person sees who vouched and their Semble; settlement on attendance, not on click. - *Symbolic interaction:* energy passing hand to hand — one human answering for another. ### F7 · The Privacy Layer **Open** — public to humans. **Held** — visible only to people you have shared a room with. Per item: *humans only* or *humans and agents*. Exactly one intelligence reads your full record: your own agent. - *Acceptance:* one tap with a plain-language consequence at the point of change; agent-readability defaults OFF; "who can see this" is always one tap away and always accurate. - *Symbolic interaction:* switching to Held redraws the frame visibly closer. Inset means held. ### F8 · Semble Models Event structures as forkable blocks: build session, pitch circle, walk-and-talk, workshop, show-your-practice hour. Roles, flow, timing, what gets marked. - *Acceptance:* 4–6 seed Models as structured docs; fork-and-edit with origin credit; every confirmed gathering displays its Model. - *Symbolic interaction:* on focus, a Model card performs its own structure — phases lighting in sequence, a miniature of the room it creates. ### F9 · The Living Block Whatever you bring, the people present can open it on their own phones and touch it while you talk; their touches return to you as marks. - *Acceptance:* one-tap live link; interactions captured only as marked touches; the maker receives them afterward, attributed. - *Symbolic interaction:* faint traces of every present hand ripple across the glass. ### F10 · The Stream — already live The builder works in the open; viewers contribute their device to the session. Streams are Sembles too: moments marked, credit allocated, traces forkable. **Stated honestly:** donated device compute is *not* how the agents run. Volunteer-device inference is orders of magnitude too slow for interactive work — the best published research systems reach roughly one step per second across many machines. What device contribution actually is here is **a presence signal and a contribution record** — a way to be in the room from another city, and to be credited for it. Agent inference is bought from real providers. We will not describe a symbolic gesture as capacity. - *Acceptance:* the stream binds to the streamer's active Semble; contribution is opt-in with a device budget; it is metered and visible to both sides; the interface never implies donated cycles are running the model. - *Symbolic interaction:* every device that joins renders as one more light behind the glass. ### F11 · Trax — The Verified Build Record The account of how you work is portable **evidence**, not a portable score — and that distinction is the whole design. Every attested room, kept commitment, allocated credit and credited fork produces a **narrow, dated, scoped claim**: *"Ana credited this build, on this date, in a room she was verifiably in."* It reads like a receipt, not a rating. You can export the whole set, and anyone can verify it without our servers. - *Why this shape:* every general, portable reputation *score* in the historical record died — the most famous one was shut down and buried. The ones that survived are narrow, forced, and scoped to a single question. **There is no Semble number.** There is no leaderboard, no global rank, no profile score. There is a set of specific, verifiable claims about specific rooms, and the reader draws their own conclusion. - *Acceptance:* every entry independently verifiable without Semble; export is one tap and complete; the schema is published and open source; nothing in the record can be altered after the fact **by anyone, including us**; no aggregate score is computed, displayed, or exposed by any API. - *Symbolic interaction:* the record renders as a seal that lifts off the surface and stays legible in the hand. ### F12 · Semble Steps The unit of movement, made operable. Every Sesh carries a Step list: the small, named, checkable things that turn a commitment into an arrival. Before — commit your stake, post what you are bringing, read the Sembles you will meet, pack the thing that is stuck. At the door — tap the anchor, the one Step that signs itself. After — allocate your share of the pool, and follow through on what you said in the room. - *Why this shape:* a threshold tells you a Sesh will happen; it does nothing about whether you arrive ready. Steps are the smallest surface on which preparation can be made visible without becoming surveillance or a streak mechanic. Each is optional, each is yours, and each is a commitment small enough to keep. - *Acceptance:* Steps are user-completable in one tap; completion writes a dated entry to Trax; the door Step cannot be completed manually and only resolves from a valid anchor signature; no Step ever sends a push notification unprompted; a Sesh with no Step list still works completely. - *Later:* conveners publish a Step list alongside their Model, so a Sesh arrives with its own preparation attached. - *Symbolic interaction:* the Step ring fills as one continuous arc and turns gold on the last Step — the same arc the threshold ring draws, at the scale of one person. ### F14 · Day One The state a person actually meets first: no Semble, no Steps, no Trax, no !MOTUS, and nothing scheduled. It is a **designed, seeded, switchable state**, not a fallback — because a cold-start screen that only appears on a fresh install is a screen nobody on the team ever looks at, and §15.4 already names complexity at the door as a live risk. - **The entry requirement is one thing.** Keep a Semble: a title and a public link. No application, no profile, no waiting. Nothing else in the product is gated. - **Onboarding is Steps**, not a tour — the same primitive the rest of the app runs on. Three of them: keep a Semble · take a seat or Init your own · show up and tap the anchor. The third is locked until the door, exactly like every other door Step. - **Empty states state what will fill them.** "Your line starts at your first Step." The Trax line still renders — dimmed, a single quiet spine — so the shape of the thing is legible before there is any content in it. - **A kept-rate with nothing behind it shows as —, never 100%.** A number with no commitments under it is a lie dressed as a metric. - *Acceptance:* every screen is reachable and legible with zero data; taking a seat without a Semble is refused with a reason and a route; the preview can switch between day one and a six-week-old account in one tap, and both are seeded from the same code path. ### F13 · !MOTUS History — In And Out Every movement of credit you have made or received, in one place, inside Trax. - **Held** — your balance right now, the number that decides what compute you can run. - **Earned in** — every allocation a room made to you, with the Sesh, the date, and what it was for. - **Sent out** — every allocation you made to someone else, and every credit spent on agent-minutes. - *Acceptance:* the ledger is append-only; every row names a person or a Sesh rather than an opaque transaction id; filterable to received or sent; Model origin credit lands automatically on a fork; totals are derived from the ledger and never stored separately; the whole ledger exports with the Trax. - *Symbolic interaction:* received rises, sent departs — one axis, two directions, and the balance sits between them. --- ## 8 · DAVARA & THE AGENTS We are not speculating about whether presence-gated intelligence can work. **We built it.** **Davara** is a working emergent-intelligence operator, live in this ecosystem: a defined identity, a published operating baseline, a layered mind assembled fresh each turn, real spend discipline, and a public record of work actually done. She holds a profile like any other participant and answers for her moves under her own name. She is the proof that an agent can be a *participant with standing* rather than a faceless service, and she is the reference every Motus Agent is measured against. That is why the presence stance is a design position and not a slogan. We have run the alternative and chosen against it. ### 8.1 · The rule we implement Presence-gating is not a mood; it is a control. The industry has converged on a usable formulation: an agent operating without human approval should hold at most two of {private data, untrusted content, external communication}. **All three requires a human in the loop.** Semble implements that literally. Every tool call an agent makes is classified. Two — it runs. Three — it is hard-gated on live, attested human presence. This turns the philosophy into an implementable control with external authority behind it, rather than a promise. Every consequential action carries a signature that resolves to a person, a per-invocation token carrying that person's authority, and a trace. **Accountability is a cryptographic property here, not a policy.** ### 8.2 · Designed against rubber-stamping The strongest critique of human-in-the-loop is that the human becomes a rubber stamp and absorbs the blame — and the research supports it: explanations and trust-calibration feedback have repeatedly failed to reduce automation bias. A checkbox is not oversight. So the oversight is engineered: - The agent must state the **reversibility** of what it is about to do, before it does it. - A **diff before act** on anything consequential. - **Approval rate limiting**, so mechanically rubber-stamping a queue is not possible. - **Sampled withholding** — on a published fraction of decisions the agent gives no recommendation, only the evidence, so the human's judgment stays exercised rather than deferred. ### 8.3 · The compute economy - Show up to a Semble and presence mints !MOTUS. *The only mint is motion.* - !MOTUS anchors **compute credits denominated in supervised agent-minutes** — a unit a person can actually reason about, unlike opaque tokens. It is real capacity to build, earned by someone with no money and no job, with nothing but their feet and their follow-through. - Spend it present. There is a second reason this design is sound, beyond fairness: **physical presence is the strongest Sybil resistance known.** A gathering-earned credit is very hard to farm at scale precisely because bodies do not scale the way accounts do. ### 8.4 · The claim we make Presence makes an agent's actions **attributable and interruptible**. Every consequential action is taken with a human present, attested, and logged — so responsibility is assignable after the fact, and intervention is possible during. That is the claim, and it is the one the evidence supports. Four things shape the design rather than the marketing, and are worth stating plainly: - **It is a safety and accountability claim, not a speed claim.** Controlled work has shown developers slower with AI assistance while believing themselves faster. - **Oversight on its own does not make a system safe.** Attributable and interruptible is the narrower, honest thing presence actually buys. - **Contributed device compute is a presence and contribution signal.** Agent inference is bought from real providers (§7 F10). - **Autonomous agents are improving quickly, and some are genuinely useful.** The bet here is narrower: on *consequential* actions, a human should be present. Oversight obligations are moving in this direction and the published timelines have already slipped once, so the honest position is that Semble is aligned with where standards are heading, not that anyone mandates it. --- ## 9 · THE CODE — ROLES, CONDUCT, COMPOSURE A community is a set of relationships, and relationships have shape. Pretending everyone occupies the same position is not equality — it is a refusal to be clear. ### 9.1 · The roles - **The Builder.** Keeps an active Semble and brings it into rooms. Everything else exists to serve the work. - **The Backer.** Credits work they were present for. It is the community saying *this mattered*, with a name attached. - **The Convener.** Inits and holds rooms, and posts the bond that makes the refund bonus real. Hosting is labor and risk; conveners carry standing for it. - **The Contributor.** Gives compute, a venue, a skill, an hour. Visible and credited. - **The Investor.** A professional whose craft is deploying capital and judgment, under obligations to their own partners. A distinct role with a distinct protocol (§10). Not a superuser, not a mark — a peer with a different job. - **The Steward.** Holds the code, resolves disputes, and answers for the network's conduct. Named and accountable. Nobody is only one of these. What matters is that when you act, everyone can see which hat you are wearing. ### 9.2 · The conduct - **Composure.** Disagree hard, in good faith, without contempt. The room is for the work. - **Your name on it.** Vouches, credits, referrals and attestations carry the name of whoever made them. Anonymity is available for privacy; it is not available for influence. - **No pitching people who did not come to be pitched.** Rooms declare their purpose. Ignoring it is the fastest way to lose standing. - **Consent before contact.** Nobody's attention is a resource the network sells. - **Credit what you build on.** - **Presence is earned, not performed.** Showing up to farm a record while contributing nothing is visible, and the community should be quick to name it. - **Follow through, or say you cannot.** "Excused" is honorable. Silence is what costs. ### 9.3 · Enforcement By humans, in the open, with an appeal. Standing can be reduced; people are not silently deleted. Every action names the steward who took it and the clause it rests on. The code is versioned in public and changing it is a visible act. --- ## 10 · CAPITAL — HOW INVESTORS MEET BUILDERS HERE Semble takes capital seriously, and the people who deploy it seriously. Investing well is a difficult craft practiced under real accountability — to limited partners, to founders, to a track record that follows you for decades. A product that treats investors as free validation, or as an audience to be teased with hints of access, earns the indifference it gets. So the protocol is explicit, and designed to be worth a professional's time. ### 10.1 · The two things never confused **Backing** is what the community does: credit for work someone was present for, given by people who were in the room. **Investing** is the deployment of capital by people whose profession that is, on terms negotiated directly between them and a founder, entirely outside this platform. These are kept structurally separate — in language, in interface, and in what the system will and will not do. ### 10.2 · What Semble offers Sourcing is not scarce in 2026; **partner attention is.** Selling more names into a glut is worthless. What is genuinely scarce is the difference between saying and doing, recorded at the moment it happens. 1. **Trax — the verified build record.** For any builder who has published one: what they said they would do, whether they showed, what they brought, who was in the room, and what those people credited afterward. Attested, not scraped, not self-reported. 2. **Founder-initiated introductions, always.** A builder decides when to reach out and to whom. Investors are never presented with a list of people who did not ask to be presented. **Introductions are free** — Semble takes nothing on them, ever. 3. **Rooms worth attending.** Investors are welcome in Sembles as participants under the same code as everyone, and Motus Events are the earned stage where the strongest work is presented properly. 4. **Signal weighted on follow-through, deliberately not on capital already raised** — so that prior funding cannot quietly become the ranking system, which would make the record worthless as an independent read. 5. **It has to arrive where the work happens.** A feed that cannot export into the tools a firm already runs on gets cancelled at renewal, and rightly. Export and integration are part of the product, not an upsell. ### 10.3 · The guarantees, both ways These are commitments in both directions, and they are what make the record worth a professional's time. - **Introductions are free.** Semble takes no success fee, finder's fee, carry, warrant or equity tied to any introduction or round, ever — so the signal you get is independent of any outcome. (Compensation tied to a transaction is also the classic trigger for unregistered broker liability. This is a bright line, not a preference.) - **The investment happens between you and the founder.** Semble never hosts, escrows, signs or processes it; that is registered-intermediary territory. - **Founders reach out first, always.** No founder is sold access to investors, and no investor is shown someone who did not ask to be shown. Pay-to-pitch corrupts the signal, and serious investors avoid rooms assembled that way — because the assembler gets paid whether the deal is real or not. - **Consent is per field, visible to the builder, and revocable,** and withdrawal propagates. Our direct relationship with the people in our records, and their explicit yes, is the entire basis on which this is legitimate. - **Investors are addressed as principals** — no ranking, no tiers, no badges, no leaderboards. - **Signal is weighted on follow-through, deliberately not on capital already raised,** so prior funding never quietly becomes the ranking and the record stays independently useful. ### 10.4 · The terms A flat annual subscription, priced against the professional tools it sits beside, never per deal and never per introduction. No application process, no artificial scarcity, no hollow free tier that wastes an hour. Investors get the full record and a direct line; builders get an absolute guarantee that nothing about them moves without their yes. *Note: the introduction protocol above, and the economic design of !MOTUS, should be reviewed by securities and privacy counsel before launch, in each jurisdiction Semble operates in. That review is a normal part of shipping, not a constraint on the design.* --- ## 11 · SAFESTEP — THE PRESENCE AND SIGNING LAYER SafeStep is the security half of the bridge, and the reason the presence proof means anything. **What it does.** SafeStep holds a person's key in their device's secure hardware and requires the person to use it. It signs three things: the attestation that you were in a room, the actions your agent takes in your name, and any operation that needs more than one hand on it. **Why it exists.** A presence economy without a signing layer is a rumor. If presence mints capacity, presence must be provable, and a proof is only as good as the key behind it. **The commitments:** - The key is generated on the device and never leaves it. Semble cannot sign for you, cannot recover your key, and cannot act in your name. - Unlocking requires the human. Semble never receives biometric data — the biometric unlocks a local key and nothing more. - Every agent action carries a signature resolving to a person, with a per-invocation token carrying that person's authority separately from the agent's own identity. - High-stakes operations require more than one signature. This is why the highest agent tier stays deferred until this layer ships. **We do not sell safety before it exists.** --- ## 12 · REVENUE **Motus.Market is where the money is made.** Semble earns honestly, but the weight of profit sits on the market by design, so the door here can stay open. Every fee obeys the shipped rule: *"Every fee fits in one sentence — or it doesn't ship."* All of it under the Covenant: never custody, never presale, never a promised rate. 1. **Motus.Market fees — the engine.** The six published fees, already live. Semble's job in this model is volume and truth. 2. **The Semble subscription.** Free forever: one active Semble, Init, commit, attend, credit, be introduced. The subscription carries depth: the full traced drive, publishing Models, and tools for people who host often. 3. **The Motus Mover subscription.** The ecosystem membership — one identity, one record, everywhere. 4. **Referral earnings.** People paid in $DASH for bringing people into real rooms. Growth spending that goes to the community instead of an ad platform. 5. **The Trax subscription (§10).** Flat annual, professional, export included. 6. **Compute credits**, denominated in supervised agent-minutes. The paid layer sits above the earned floor. The high-stakes multi-signature tier stays deferred until SafeStep ships. 7. **Later, in season:** Pitch Day — builders whose record opened the door, presenting to investors who came to listen. Free to both sides; never pay-to-pitch. **The test every future stream must pass:** someone is paying for something real they received. If a revenue line cannot be described in one sentence to the person it affects most, it does not ship. --- ## 13 · MOTUS.MARKET INTEGRATION - **The Law of the Market:** no standalone services — every offer attaches to an existing MotusMove. Semble honors the same spine: a Semble can serve a MotusMove, and a trace can seed a market offer. - **Motus Corpus:** attended rooms, kept commitments, allocated credit and credited forks **are moves.** Presence writes into the Corpus. - **MotusModels:** the market's keystone — flat mint, the Source publishes their own Split, each model an atom and triple with FOR/AGAINST vaults, forks auto-credit origin. **Semble Models are the on-ramp:** born free in the room, graduating to minted MotusModels once proven. One credit law, two altitudes. - **The phases:** P0 reveal (live) · P1 close the loop · P2 compound · P3 registry and governance. **Semble is the P2 engine.** - **MotusAgents:** work as a duet, not a delegation. Semble supplies the other half of that economy. --- ## 14 · DESIGN SYSTEM — SEMBLE IN NEURONEOGLASS Semble.cc and Motus.Market are one family in one material: the open door and the settlement read as one continuous place. ### 14.1 · Why glass - **Glass is the honest material.** You can see through it. A product whose rules cannot conceal, rendered in a material that cannot either. - **Presence is light.** Glass is nothing without light behind it. Every presence signal renders as light behind glass. An empty pane is honest emptiness; a full room glows. **Interface brightness is a reading of real presence, never decoration.** - **The crossing.** The mark is two curves turning into each other — one sweeping down, one sweeping up — with a single burst of light where they cross. It reads three ways at once: as an **S**, for Semble; as **two people arriving from opposite directions**, where the light is the meeting; and as **one continuous line**, which is exactly what a Trax is. It is never static in those moments — it *draws*: the two curves converge, then the gold ignites where they meet. Scarcity keeps it sacred, and motion keeps it meant. - **Rim before body — the palette is read off the mark.** Deep signal for the body (`#00a8d8`), bright signal for the rim (`#5ce1ff`), and gold for the one point of light, spent once per screen. Never an aphorism, never an abstraction standing in for meaning. If a caption could sit under any other product, delete it. - **Every essential component performs its concept.** Lights joining the threshold ring · the frame redrawing closer on Held · the spark walking a fork's thread · fingerprints rippling across a living block · the seal lifting off the surface · the software going quiet, one slow breath, while humans are together. - **Never a sharp corner. Never a highlight box on an interactive mark.** Glow, never highlight. - **No new coined names, tiers or levels. No emoji in the interface.** ### 14.4 · The performance floor Sixty frames per second on a mid-range phone, or the least symbolic layer is cut. Nothing animates offscreen. No full-viewport backdrop filters. Any per-frame cost must be visible every frame, or it is removed. **The creed:** *"It felt alive. It held my focus. I could read every word. And we moved together."* ## 15 · THE HONEST RISKS An open-source spec that only lists strengths is marketing. These are the failure modes the evidence actually points at, and what we are doing about each. ### 15.1 · The threshold is a feature, not a business Two products built on exactly this mechanic — Kickstarter-style all-or-nothing for events — were discontinued, and a third with a large valuation lost a third of its monthly users in a quarter before being sold for parts. **Mitigation:** the threshold is never the product. It is one gate inside a loop whose stickiness comes from the active Semble, the record, and the compute. If the threshold were removed tomorrow, the system would still have a reason to exist. ### 15.2 · Peer credit with nowhere to spend it always dies The graveyard is unambiguous: the best-known attendance-token project wound down in 2026; the closest peer-allocation analogue shut off its app and contracts; another contribution-credit project is gone; a major grants stack was retired. Every one had users. None had a demand side. **Mitigation:** this is precisely why credit anchors to compute, and why §10 exists. The demand side is not an afterthought here — it is load-bearing, and if it does not materialise, the credit layer should be removed rather than propped up. ### 15.3 · Founder dependence The most-loved build-in-public community of its era shut down at its peak, with capital in the bank, because one person's fire went out. Research on physical community formats names small-team operational overwhelm and institutional-knowledge loss as primary causes of death. **Mitigation:** Models are documented so rooms do not require their inventor; stewardship is named and plural; the Anchor and the code travel without any specific person. ### 15.4 · Complexity at the door Three currencies plus a threshold plus a stake plus presence-gated compute is a great deal to meet at once. The most successful adjacent products won with a single idea. **Mitigation:** the door is one sentence — *keep one Semble, Init a room, show up.* Everything else is progressive. Any surface that makes a newcomer meet more than one new concept is a bug. ### 15.5 · Attendance farming Presence is valuable, so people will try to manufacture it. **Mitigation:** §6.3 — fixed pools, cross-cluster dilution, rotating Anchors, staked claims, and human review. Watched from day one rather than after it becomes a problem. ### 15.6 · The name **"Semble" is a registered software trademark of an established company in another vertical** — a London-based healthcare software business, founded 2016, well funded, serving many practices. Different market, same trademark class. This is an unresolved legal exposure that needs a trademark-class clearance before any wide launch or fundraise. Flagged plainly because discovering it late is expensive. ### 15.7 · Physical does not scale like software City-by-city is the most operationally punishing shape a product can take. **Mitigation:** the two organisations in this space with five-plus years of unsubsidised operation both anchored short gatherings to one small permanent venue.
